Spring 1:
We are continuing to learn to become more independent.
We are continuing to develop good relationships.
We are learning that people have different needs and views that need to be treated with respect.
We are learning what is right, wrong and why.
 
We are continuing to:
Read and write lower case letters.
Read and try to write words.
Read a range of books including recounts, poetry and books from the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme.
 
 
We are learning to:
Count, sequence and read and write numbers.
Use the vocabulary of addition and subtraction.
Compare weights directly.
Use words to describe position.
2D and 3D shapes.
 
 
Our general topic is 'Winter'.
Our R.E. topic is 'Why are stories special?'.
In gym we are consolidating and developing our skills using low apparatus.
In games we are learning skills through using hoops and quoits.
 
 
Music:    Call and response, action and counting songs. Stories in music - listening and composing activities. Exploring high and low sounds through listening, movement and instrumental work. Developing attentive listening using rhythm pattern games.
 
French: Learn about a typical French breakfast, breakfast food and drink, sample some breakfast foods, action songs and rhymes.
               
 
Spring 2 :
We are learning about the need for, and the value of, shared rules.
We are learning to consider the words and actions of self and others.
We are continuing to enjoy new activities and remain excited and motivated to learn.
We are taking part in a Christmas play.
 
We are continuing to:
Read and write lower case letters.
Read and write words.
Read a range of books including non-fiction and books from the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme.
 
We are learning to:
Count, sequence and read and write numbers.
Use the vocabulary and mathematical symbols for addition.
Use money.
 
Our general topic is Growing
Our R.E. topic is 'What makes something special?'.
 
French: Basic shapes, revision of some colours, some action commands, Easter in France, action songs and rhymes.
